in South India

Hot sun, rising mercury, scorching heat waves, Oh My God! Indian summer is just around the corner. Summer season is one of the most testing times for Indian people. Usually Northern states will reach higher temperatures but summer in South India is also furious. Most of the travel takes place during summer season since it is a holiday season for children and an opportunity to escape from the heat. Below are some of the fantastic summer getaways in south India

Thekkady – Kerala  One of the finest wildlife reserves, with vast evergreen plantations, deciduous forests, the name, Thekkady conjures up a ‘Green’ heaven in our minds. You can see different wildlife like Sambar, Gaur, Elephants etc., here. The artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam on the Periyar River adds more beauty to Thekkady. A place of serenity and peace this is an attractive choice to visit in summer.

Coorg – Karnataka  Rich intoxicating aroma of coffee estates, peaceful surroundings, variety of flora and fauna, wide plantations all these complete the enchanting Coorg. A land of farmers, this valley provides a fantastic experience of peace and tranquility. Summer is the best season to visit this place since from July monsoon will start and continue till November.

Kodaikanal – TamilNadu A place where you can experience nature at its best is Kodaikanal. With unspoilt natural beauty, lovely star shaped Lake, with attractive waterfalls like Silver cascade falls, vattakanal falls etc., and Kodai Solar observatory, this place is one of the best destinations to visit during summer

Munnar – Kerala The name Munnar brings lush greenery, vast tea gardens, peaceful surroundings etc., to our mind. Being a famous destination, Munnar has been catapulted further into limelight due to the recent blockbuster Life of Pi movie. With a charm of its own, Munnar is the best place to spend time leisurely in nature’s lap

Ooty – TamilNadu
Being on the most popular destinations of South India, Ooty needs no introduction. Starting from beautiful gardens, Ooty Lake, Doddabetta peak, Pykara Lake and with many shooting spots, Ooty has carved its own place in many tourists’ hearts. Visiting Ooty will be a rewarding experience for sure and summer can be the perfect excuse for embarking on a visit.

Valparai - Tamilnadu
Valparai is a newly explored tourist spot located in the Anamalai hills of Westernghats. Entering the forest and tea gardens of valparai you can enjoy the presence of many streams, dams, valleys, waterfalls, high mountains, grass lands, wildlife sanctuary, flora and fauna.
Valparai is different from other tourist spots unlike ooty, munnar, kodaikanal etc because of some if its unique nature. Ecotourism is given more importance than regular form of tourism. Chinnakallar in valparai records maximum rainfall next to chirapungi. Valparai is the only hill station in the world which has 12 dams and hydro electric power stations.

Wayanad – Kerala
Wayanad district stands on the southern tip of the Deccan plateau and its chief glory is the majestic rugged terrain of the Western Ghats, with lofty ridges interspersed with dense forest, tangled jungles and deep valleys. Quite a large area of the district is covered by forest but the continued and indiscriminate exploitation of the natural resources point towards an imminent environmental crisis.
it has huge amount of deciduous forest, dry along moist. Snuggled amidst the Western Ghats Mountains, Wayanad is one of the exquisite hill stations of Kerala. It is a revenue state due to foreign exchange of cash crops such as vanilla, tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom and many other condiments. Wayanad shelters endangered species as it has an amazing range of flora and fauna.
